Workshop Descriptions

Punching Up Your Resume
Participants will work on their resume wording and layout during class.  Targeting your resume; highlighting your skills, accomplishments and goals; establishing a work history; type of paper, font and background to use; power phrases; creating Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) that support your accomplishments.  This two hour Workshop provides participants with basic principles to create resumes that will be noticed, read and acted upon.
  • The Resume Objective
  • The Resume Body
  • The Resume Summary
  • Do’s and Don’ts in Resume Preparation

Preparing For An Interview
Interviewing skills will range from questions to ask, practical tips, different styles of interviewing, the phone interview, and follow up after the initial meeting. Different practice questions will be asked to simulate a live interview.   This two hour workshop provides participants with interviewing skills both verbal and non-verbal, from the first handshake through follow-up calls and sealing the job.

  • Traditional vs. Behavioral Interviewing
  • Preparing Answers to Behavioral Questions

Managing Multiple Priorities
Are you struggling in a work environment that requires doing more work with fewer people? In today’s workplace, it becomes more important every day to make every minute count. This seminar will offer you easy-to-live-with-strategies for managing your time and setting priorities that will help you handle the need to be in two places or doing two things at the same time. This seminar covers:

  • Short-term and long-term goal planning
  • Basic time management
  • Delegating
  • Handling control issues
  • Avoiding procrastination
  • Task Planning
  • Setting priorities for goals and tasks
  • Scheduling
  • Recognizing and avoiding time wasters
  • Integrating the multiple tasks that can be accomplished by one person with limited time

Successful Email Writing
This is a highly interactive and tailored workshop where participants practice, through a repeatable, proven, writing process, how to prepare and deliver electronic mail that is clear and understood the first time it is read. Skills developed in this workshop include how to decide when to use email,  how to effectively plan your document, how to grab attention through the subject line, how audiences read and how to design targeted email messages for them, how to choose the right tone for your readers, and how to use the four-step organization format to maximize the impact of your message.

Pre-Retirement Seminar
We all think about retirement (some may be closer than others).  This workshop is open to all federal employees, regardless of their federal health insurance affiliation.  It will provide information that will assist you in preparing for retirement and your health insurance needs.  There are many things that you may not think about until you get ready to retire and then it may be too late; or, you may have to delay your retirement.
